Planning a Sophisticated Hen Party

Ever since my best friend Sally asked me to be her maid of honour, I’ve been excited and terrified in equal measure. Excited, because it’s such an honour to be asked, and I can’t wait to be right behind her when she walks down the aisle. Terrified, because one of my main duties is to organise the hen do.

Sally and I have known each other since high school, and one of the things I like best about her is that she knows what she wants. Unfortunately, however, I have been given a free rein when it comes to planning the hen do, and I’ve been worried about getting it wrong. I know most of the other hens, and overall we are very mixed bunch. There are some of our old friends from school, a few of Sally’s Uni mates and friends from the office, as well as some family members. All told, there are twelve of us, ranging in age from 21 to 63. Finding something that everyone will enjoy, and that will give Sally the perfect send off she deserves has been quite a challenge.

Knowing Sally, there was no way that she would want a hen do which involved traipsing around town on a Saturday night with L-plates only to end up at a tacky club. For a while, I was thinking about us all going away for a weekend to somewhere like Barcelona, but the cost proved a little too inhibitive for some of us, so that was out. Other hen party ideas that people gave me included cocktail making, pole-dancing classes (?), sailing or shooting weekends, and murder mystery parties but none of them seemed right for Sally. Finally, I came across the perfect solution: a spa day.

I shopped around a few of the spas in the West Midlands where we live and eventually decided on Wildmoor Spa in Stratford-upon-Avon.  One of the hens is a member and she couldn’t speak highly enough of the both the spa itself and the quality of the treatments they provide. That and the fact that the staff have been helpful and informative right from the first time I contacted them, made choosing Wildmoor Spa a very simple decision. They have some very sophisticated hen party ideas, which I knew would suit Sally down to the ground, and a range of relaxing hen party spa day packages to choose from.

We are still in the decision making process at the moment, and myself and a few of the other hens are debating whether to choose the Simply Us spa day which involves a choice of a float session or a file and paint for hands or feet, or one of the other packages. Personally, I am inclined towards something a little extra. I like the look of both the Hen Party Retreat package, which includes a classic manicure and pedicure as well as a choice of a facial or a massage, and the Hen Hideaway package: a Swedish massage, a facial and a file and paint. Whichever option we go for in the end I know that Sally and the rest of the hens will love it. As long as we all have fun, plenty of relaxation and a few giggles along the way, I am sure that this will be a hen party to remember!
